Aegis

My wife and had recently had our second child when this was painted. We are sometimes consumed by an overwhelming feeling of love and protection for our two boys. We want sovereignty to raise and nurture them the way we see best. The landscape around us is open, powerful, beautiful, and always changing. Yet noisy and concerning information is flowing into our life at an unstoppable pace. We often feel like we can't escape it, and wish to find sanctuary.

This painting is and was an outlet for these thoughts, and the emotions behind them. This painting understood the things that are hard for me to explain to others.
