I saw these beautiful purple wildflowers blooming in a marshy field in the Spring, just before departing on a trip. I quickly painted one version the morning (plein air), just in case the flowers' bloom ended before my return. BUT when I returned they were still there! But this time I caught them in the evening when the light made them pop. The Sunday afternoon setting also meant the normally busy roadside was a bit calmer.
