Orbitude

Orbitude, Drawing
Orbitude
The meaning of Orbitude is loss or bereavement of a parent or child. In this case it refers to a child. The woman is up against the wall metaphorically and literally. The setting is reminiscent of a line-up and is to represent the guilt she is feeling as she goes through the stages of grief. She is alone and bereft yet stares out directly, humble but not broken.

From a technical point of view, the main consideration for this drawing was shapes and how the simplicity of very little information can say so much. In most drawings you will find more information in the lights, in this piece it has predominantly been reversed with more time spent thinking about and working in the shadows.
