From the steps of the El Encanto hotel, I could see the lights of Santa Barbara shining purely through the eucalyptus out front. The aqua-green night sky reminded me of the skies of Charles Rollo Peters' paintings, and the lights of this city that I have loved for years. This painting is a declaration of that love.
