The Navajo Bridge is a special place. It's very near Lee's Ferry where rafters begin their journey down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It's also very near the beautiful Vermillion Cliffs. The first time I saw the river from the bridge I was entertained by a huge condor. It was #79 and the condor flew to a nearby perch and posed for all of us for a very long time. What a treat. The last time I saw the river from the bridge was the most spectacular of all of my visits. The sun was shining on the water creating a clear shadow sunlight pattern and making the water sparkle. I river is named "Colorado" which means red in Spanish and it actually IS red after a rainstorm when the water washes down off the sandstone layers of cliff. But on many days when the sky is clear and the sun is bright the water is beautifully blue and blue green just like it was on my last visit to the Navajo Bridge.
