First Candle of Spring

Pussy willows, a true harbinger of spring, are usually depicted upright in a vase. I wanted to paint them laying over something. Thus the carved box. I'm drawn to paintings from long ago and far away. The antique plate, and old candlestick for me, gave the painting an old feel.
