My painting depicts a Rick House at Buffalo Trace distillery known as the 'Free House,' one of the first spanning a rich history. The legacy of Kentucky bourbon shaped the lives many Kentuckians, enriched with traditions and heritage that came to define our state. A fungus from the distillery gives the wood on the trees throughout the grounds a distinct black appearance.
I worked from a plein air sketch, and references I took on-site. I ultimately gave this historical building the attention I felt it deserved in my home studio.
