Morning Light
I set up my easel by the Yukon Mountains on a beautiful, cold early morning in February and observed the sunrise in a pink and glowing sky. I made a quick outline and created forms with bold, colourful shapes. It was a privilege to be out painting that day!
I paint landscapes directly from nature. My expressionistic oil paintings capture the strong shapes, tones and colours of mountains, trees, foreground, and sky. My primary influences are Cezanne and the Group of Seven.
I love to arrive at a beautiful scene and realize that this is where I will paint today. I’m fortunate to have so many beautiful locations in the Yukon.
